IEEE SPS 5-Minute Video Clip Contest on “Fight the Pandemic”
Title: Visual Analytic System for Pandemic Management During COVID-19
I have led the ROSE Lab Team winning 1st Place in IEEE SPS 5-Minute Video Clip Contest on “Fight the Pandemic”.
A team from the ROSE Lab won 1st place at the IEEE Signal Processing Society’s (SPS) 5-Minute Video Clip Contest (5-MICC) with the theme “Fight the Pandemic”. Our team was led by research fellow, Dr Lin Shan, with undergraduate students from NTU’s School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, the University of Electronic Science & Technology China (UESTC), and Indian Institute of Technology Indore. The team was supervised by Prof Alex Kot, the Director of the ROSE Lab. This contest was organized in conjunction with the IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP) 2020.
Our team’s entry was entitled “Visual Analytics System for Pandemic Management during COVID-19”. It made use of AI-based video analytics for Control and Contact Tracking functions. By utilizing various AI models developed by the ROSE lab, the proposed platform can perform quick person searches and contact tracking within a network of surveillance cameras. It proactively monitors the area by raising alarms on the social distancing violation, detecting people without a face mask, and showing the population density heat map for crowd control.
